Covid-19: Total supports initiatives in global fight against pandemic
Total Group, facing the worldwide scenario of the new coronavirus pandemic, is acting to ensure the continuity of its activities, adopting as a priority the health and safety of its collaborators, partners and customers, besides supporting, within the scope of its guidelines for Corporate Social Responsibility, initiatives linked to fighting Covid-19.
In Brazil and in France, its home country, Total is active in supporting institutions and professionals from the health sector, reaffirming its commitment to society and the communities of the regions where it operates.
In Rio de Janeiro, subsidiary Total E&P do Brasil is part, by means of the Brazilian Institute for Oil, Gas and Biofuels (IBP), of the network of partners in the program “United against Covid-19”, with the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) (health research center). The company will contribute to boosting the emergency fund, which will support the production of diagnosis kits, the expansion of the capacity for testing samples and the carry out of research linked to the treatment of Covid-19.
In the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais, subsidiary Total Brasil Distribuidora is making financial contributions to support hospitals in the main cities where it is active, benefitting the Hospital das Clínicas (São Paulo), Hospital 10 de Julho (Pindamonhagaba) and Hospital Santa Casa de Misericórdia (Araxá).
Several solidarity initiatives are being implemented by Total Group affiliates around the world. In France, the company also performs actions of:
- Support to hospitals and health professionals, providing vouchers for fuel in the amount of up to € 50 million, which can be used at Total service stations,
- A contribution in the amount of € 5 million, through Total Foundation, to the Pasteur Institute (France) and to hospitals and health associations of the country engaged in combating Covid-19.
